Free parking in Wimbledon
Merton Council is keeping up its current tradition of offering a good start to both buyers and shopkeepers this yuletide by giving free parking.
Parking would be free in council-managed automobile parks* through the borough for each week-end through the 28 November, leading up to Christmas time Day, including xmas Eve, which falls on a Thursday.
Organizations into the borough welcome the council’s decision to switch from the pay and screen machines when it comes to busiest four weekends into the retail calendar. The move can benefit huge number of xmas shoppers and certainly will mean the average Wimbledon consumer will save as much as £6 for a four-hour shop regarding no-cost parking days.
Commander of the council Councillor Stephen Alambritis said: “We know lots of people tend to be experiencing the pinch economically, which means this is our way of making Christmas a little lighter regarding the pocket. We always work to make parking in Merton fair and affordable and hope that allowing people to park for free in council vehicle parks will mean more folks will spend their funds in your area.”
