Cannizaro House Restaurant
Cannizaro House, a nation residence regarding the edge of Wimbledon typical, has long been a location for pram-pushers and strollers using this mansion’s stately grounds (Cannizaro Park). For decades the building’s public café under-achieved, but this seemed set to alter as soon as the resort du Vin team took it over in 2015.
Resort du Vin once had a good title both for refreshments, but considering our most recent dinner at Cannizaro House, there’s area for enhancement. The eighteenth-century building today has actually today's cup conservatory facing the playground, which houses The Orangery, a no-bookings brasserie. The more expensive restaurant, called The Bistro, features eyebrow-raising costs, with starters costing around £15 and main programs approaching £30. We moved to the Orangery, which also becoming less expensive, has got the added advantage of having numerous outdoor tables on a terrace.
Whilst the dishes were sufficient, the pricing seemed cheeky. A chicken cobb salad expense £16.95, yet the ingredients were unremarkable, with little chicken present. Even more disappointing nonetheless was the dish referred to as ‘grilled world artichoke’ (£15.50); the truth is, this mainly composed of a small number of rocket leaves, grilled loaves of bread and fragments of oil-drenched artichoke heart that appeared as if fresh from a jar. When we found a rubber band among the salad leaves and pointed this off to our waiter, he apologised – nevertheless meal stayed in the bill at a high price. If you simply adhere to having one glass of wine on terrace from their well-chosen listing, you’ll become more than satisfied.
