For those who plan to pay abroad with a card, experts advise to have a separate card in the currency of the host country. Payments with such a card will pass without loss. Sometimes banks give the opportunity to get an additional card or account to an existing one in dollars or euros, and some of them offer a more diverse set of currencies.

If the card account is in the currency of your country, when paying with a card abroad, banks convert money into local currency at their own rate, which is usually worse than the rate of your country.

Always pay in the currency of purchase, not in the currency of your card. Often, such an operation leads to conversion in several stages.

If you decide to travel without a card, but with cash, you should have cupo en dolares. You just need to go to one of the branches with an identity card and state the amount you need.
